“Time Collapse” is a cinematic CG short created for Casio G-SHOCK, produced in collaboration with Marumedia LLC Japan. As CG Supervisor, I led the entire 3D production process — from look development and simulation to lighting, rendering, and compositing. Working independently as the sole production studio, I crafted a visual narrative focused on material intensity, dynamic transformation, and cinematic structure, translating the core identity of G-SHOCK into motion with precision and depth.
This project aimed to reintroduce the G-SHOCK brand to a new generation through a cinematic short that visually interprets the core pillars of the product: durability, technical complexity, and timeless design.
**“Time Collapse” wasn't just about showing a watch — it was about visualizing what G-SHOCK *means*.** The core idea: Let’s show the *collapse of time* — not as destruction, but as transformation. We built a sequence where chaos becomes clarity, as fragments converge into form.
Early motion tests focused on rhythm and energy. The collapse had to feel intentional — not random destruction.
HoudiniFX For Cracks, X-Particles was used for debris and shockwave behaviors. Otoy Octane for rendering & NukeX for Composite.
The lighting was treated as a live-action set: moody keylights, cinematic contrast, volumetrics. I pushed Octane’s multi-light passes for full control in comp..
I built custom shaders to reflect premium materiality: metal, resin, mineral glass. Subtle imperfections were added to avoid CG plasticity.
